Evelyn Díaz Cruz is an Associate Professor of Theatre at the University of San Diego, originally from the Bronx, New York with experience in writing, directing, and acting.  She earned her Master of Fine Arts degree in Playwriting from the University of California at Los Angeles.  Currently on sabbatical, this year she is Artist-In-Residence at LATEA Theatre in New York's Lower East Side, where she is working on a production of her award winning play, GLASS CORD, scheduled for May 2012. 

Recent projects include productions of BESITO PA' TI, which documents the life story of legendary salsa diva, La Lupe;  MUERTOS: A DAY OF THE DEAD PLAY (bilingual and binational production exploring issues of death on the border during the traditional holiday); and an original adaptation of Garcia Lorca's YERMA (a bilingual translation reset in Afro-Latino-Caribbean culture)
. 

Ms. Cruz teaches courses on Playwriting,Theatre of Diversity, Xicana/o and Latina/o Theatre, Theatre and Society, Acting, and Theatre & Community.
