Several of Gina's plays have been staged off-Broadway and in theaters throughout Southern California. Her two-act drama Under a Cuban Moon has been selected as a finalist in the 2010 MetLife Nuestras Voces National Playwriting Competition and is being presented in a staged reading at Repertorio Espanol in New York City. Her one-act drama, War Spelled Backwards, was chosen by a panel of judges for a staged reading at the Alliance of Los Angeles Playwrights Theater Festival at Pepperdine University in 2005. The play was published in January 2007 in The Literary Experience, an anthology being used in college English classes. Other plays include Dreaming of Barbie, a comedic monologue featured in Edward Albee's Last Frontier Theatre Conference in Alaska; Out of Her Time, a three-act drama selected for a staged reading in the Long Beach Playhouse New Works festival; and If Memory Serves, produced as part of a New Playwrights One-Act Festival at The Producers Theatre in New York. Cuban Heels, a short film she wrote that pays tribute to her Cuban heritage, was screened at the Inner City Cultural Center Talent Fest at the Ivar Theater in Hollywood. Affiliated with the Alliance of Los Angeles Playwrights and the Dramatists Guild, Gina is an Assistant Professor of English at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo. Formerly a member of the UCLA Writing Programs faculty, she received her Ph.D. in English at the University of California, Irvine.
