Meet Roy Battocchio
Began his writing career as a sportswriter for the Yonkers Herald Statesman Newspaper in Yonkers, New York. His light verse and humorous essays have appeared in McCalls, Good Housekeeping, Family Circle, The Los Angeles Times and a number of other periodicals.
He spent a number of years in radio at WINS and WOR in New York and in the music business as Manager of Artist Relations with Capitol and RCA Records where he worked with such entertainers as Peggy Lee, Nat Cole, Dolly Parton, John Denver, The Beatles and many more.
For TV he wrote a number of episodes for Love Boat and was head writer for The New Hollywood Squares.
His full-length comedies, Thicker Than Water and Dead Wrong have been produced at Theatre West in L.A. (where he is a member) and The Long Beach Playhouse. (Dead Wrong has been honored by being accepted in the Eileen Heckert Senior Drama Collection at Ohio State University.) His many short pieces and one-acts have been produced at TW, The Secret Rose Theatre, The Dayton Playhouse and others. His comedy, Crass Reunion was a semifinalist in the First Stage One-act contest and the winner in the Ellen Idelson Playwrighting Competition at Theatre West. His 10-minute comedy, Leap Year was a finalist at The Secret Rose 10-minute festival. He is a member of The Writers Guild and The Dramatists Guild.
