Plays By John Lane
John Lane is a member of two playwriting groups in Orange County, California: New Voices Playwrights Workshop and OC Playwrights Alliance. Several of his short plays and one-acts have been produced at various venues in Orange County. He studied playwriting at South Coast Repertory in Costa Mesa, and sitcom and screenplay writing at AFI in Hollywood. He is a member of ALAP and the Dramatists Guild.
In the past several years, his short plays have been selected for productions at these theatres: the Gene Frankel Theatre in NYC (Dec. '05); Flint City Theatre in Flint Michigan (two plays, Jan. '06 and Dec.'06); Cedar Lane Stage, Bethesda, MD (two plays July '06); Stages Theatre, Fullerton, CA (Dec. '06); Little Fish Theatre, San Pedro, CA (Jan.-Feb.'07); DoricTheatre, Hollywood (June'07); Hunger Artists Theatre, Fullerton CA (Nov.'07); Gallery Theatre, Anaheim (Dec. '07); Shelterbelt Theatre, Omaha (Jan.-Feb.'08) and Algonquin Theatre, NYC, (Apr.'08), Hayworth Theatre (L.A., Nov.-Dec. '08), Algonqujin Theatre (NYC, Mar. '09), Royal Theatre (NYC, Aug. '09) and 2 plays in KickIt! Festival at the Richard Shepard Theatre (NYC, Dec. '09).
His full-length comedy, "Good Breeding," won 1st Prize in the 2006 Scripteasers play competition (San Diego). It was given a staged reading at the Royal Theatre (on the Queen Mary, Long Beach) in Nov. '07 sponsored by Panndora Productions.
Two of his plays were published in 2009: "The Limp" in Desert Road's Once Acts of Note; and an excerpt from "I Just Wanna Get to Phoenix" in Duo! The Best Scenes for Two in the 21st Century.
