Plays By David Misch


     David's first play, Occupied, was featured in ALAP's New Works Lab in 2011 and will premiere at the Skylight Theater in Los Angeles, produced by the Katselas Theatre Company, later in 2012.  He's had 1-act plays produced at Pepsico Sum­merfare (Pur­chase, NY), Manhattan Punch Line, and the Three Roses Players, the Burbage Theater En­semble, and HBO Workspace (Los Ange­les).

     After graduating from Pomona College, David moved to Boston, where he wrote political satire, hosted a live music radio show and per­formed as a folksinger and stand-up comic at colleges, cof­fee­houses and nightclubs in New Eng­land and the Midwest.  His song Somer­ville was re­leased nationally by Philo Records and he was named Best Come­dian In Boston by Boston Maga­zine.

     He moved to Californ­ia to write for Mork and Mindy, which won the Emmy for Best New Comedy Ser­ies.  He also co-wrote Leave It To Dave, the pilot for David Let­terman's first talk-show.

     He has since written, created and produced programs for NBC, CBS, ABC, Fox, UPN, HBO, Show­time, PBS, ABC Family, Disney, Universal and Lifetime.  Among his credits: he co-wrote and directed an episode of the syndi­cated series Mon­sters which was chosen for compe­tition at the Banff International Televis­ion Fes­tival; Executive Producer of Duckman (USA), nominated for multiple Emmys, winner of the Cable­ACE and Banff awards for Best Animated Series; Executive Story Editor on the legendary Zucker-Abrahams-Zucker series Police Squad!; co-writer and producer of Calla­han, a pilot which was later screened at the Los Angeles Museum of Art Television Festival; guest writer on Saturday Night Live.

     David was Executive Consultant on She Spies  (chosen as one of 5 TV Spies To Love On DVD by Time Magazine) and wrote the TV-movie Behind The Camera: The Unauthorized Story of 'Mork and Mindy' for NBC.

     In features, he was Special Consultant on THE MUPPETS TAKE MANHAT­TAN (Tri-Star).  His screenplays include SUMMER HOUSE (MGM); CON­VENTION and DEFROSTED (Touchstone); GIRL-GRAB­BERS FROM VENUS, FAST FOR­WARD and DIS­TURB­ING THE PEACE (War­ner Brothers).

     David's taught comedy at USC's School of Cinematic Arts and musical satire at UCLA's Herb Alpert School of Music.
