Meet June Carryl

June Carryl was born in Iowa City, Iowa and grew up in Denver, Colorado. Intending to become a lawyer June attended Brown University and struggled through Economics, Calculus and Geology before settling on a BA in Pollitical Science. After sleeping through the last round of LSATs, June decided the law was not for her and following her senior year transitioned to the English Department. She studied playwriting with Paula Vogel, Aisha Rahmnan, and visiting professor Anna Devere-Smith. Her first play, FRIEND BOY, FRIEND GIRL was roundly rejected for the playwrights festival, but a second play, PERFECT FREAKS was part of Rites & Reason's PlayRites Festival. She also wrote a short piece dealing with spousal abuse for a Women's Theater Festival hosted at Perseverance Theater. After seven year as an actor and writer in San Francisco, June moved to Los Angeles and has lived here since 2000. Recent plays include THE GOOD MINISTER FROM HARARE, STONE ANGELS (Black Swan Lab, Oregon Shakespeare Festival 2013; Noteworthy, Theatre of Note 2014); LA BETE (A One Act), (2014 Fringe Festival, Encore Producer's Award, Best Female Performer) and BLOWFLY (Fresh Produce'd, 2014. Favoritemacting roles include the Nirse in A Noise Within's ROMEO AND JULIET directed by Damaso Rodrigruez and Venus in Thick Description's VENUS. June is also a director.
