ANNOUNCING ALAP'S 2ND ANNUAL COCKTAIL PARTY...

Last year’s inaugural Cocktail Party was so much fun we had to do it again! So mark your calendars for April 18!

The soiree will take place at a private home from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on a Sunday – perfect for having a drink and some conversation before you head off to dinner, or back home to watch 60 Minutes – and will feature beer, wine, Cosmopolitans (the semi-official drink of West Hollywood!) and light nibbles. And of course, there’ll be non-alcoholic beverages for those of you who don’t wish to indulge.

The party promises to be relaxing and fun – and at $5 for members and $10 for others, it’s the bargain of the decade! Reservations are mandatory, as is payment in advance. Download the RSVP form by clicking here laplaywrights.org/10CocktailInvite.pdf or by scrolling to the bottom of the right-hand column on the Welcome page of the website.

... AND 2ND GAY PLAY READING FESTIVAL!
ALAP has once again been awarded a grant from the City of West Hollywood’s Arts and Cultural Affairs Commission, to present a Reading Festival of new lesbian and gay plays during the City’s Pride Month Celebration in June. The grant isn’t large, but it provides for prize money to the playwrights selected ($150 to the writer of the chosen full-length, $150 to be divided among the authors of the shorts), as well as tiny – and we do mean tiny! – stipends to the directors and actors.

The submission deadline is March 15. Download the application form: http://laplaywrights.org/10GayFestEntryFormRevised.pdf. It is also available on the front page of the website. Please read the rules carefully, then send us your stuff!

NEW WORKS LAB UPDATE

The Lab’s new Coordinator, Teri Graves, is lining up the theatres which will host this year’s Labs, and will have news soon. As we announced in the last NewsFlash, submissions may now be made electronically, and more changes are on the way.

The next submission deadline is April 15 for your full-length or 30+ page one-act. Since the purpose of the Lab is to aid in the development of new work, previously read or produced plays should be submitted only if they have been significantly rewritten. The Labs are not open to the public, but a limited number of spaces are available for ALAP members who would like to attend. For submission guidelines and more info on the Lab, visit the ALAP website.

BIG FUN AT THE ANNUAL MEETING!

(L) Julius Galacki and Catherine Pelonero point the way for those who can't read...
as Gene Lesser (R) checks names on the Guest List...

... and a bunch of happy people enjoy the party!
