Synopsis:
A random meeting occurs in a Kentucky graveyard between Ben, a black sheriff, and Lucas, a white school teacher from Alabama. They don't know each other but come to discover they were both victims of pedophilia by the same man, Hal Daniels, many years ago. The setting is the grave site of the pedophile. It is the night following his funeral. Several visitors (including Miss Evelyn, his widow, and Judge Bailey, a childhood rival, come to the grave site raising questions whether he is actually buried there or really dead. Hal surprisingly shows up at his own grave and is confronted by Ben and Lucas, who he hasn't seen in 25 years. The dilemma of how to deal with their molester evokes deep emotional and sometimes violent reactions from both men, as they deal with the issues of resurrecting their past, secrecy, shame, retribution, forgiveness, life and death. They are torn between what moral choices to make in the treatment of their abuser. Miss Evelyn, the supposed widow, returns to the grave, only to find out the secret life of her alleged deceased husband. The entire play takes place at the grave site.
