Synopsis:
A poor Norwegian immigrant boy rises out of poverty to become the most famous football coach of the 20th century. In doing so, he puts the University of Notre Dame on the map. During this rise to stardom, he sacrifices the responsibility of being a father and compromises his own ethics in regards to his most famous (or infamous) player, George Gipp (The Gipper). After a devastating loss to USC, Rockne reflects back on his life on the train ride back to South Bend. During this time we encounter The Four Horsemen, The Gipper, speakeasys, the Catholic Church and the music of ragtime and the roaring twenties. Rockne eventually comes to the realization that the most important thing in life is not winning, but his family.
