Synopsis:
"RE" A Musical Play Book by Mark Mc Quown Music and Lyrics by Donna Lizzio In 2500 BC the Egyptian Pharaoh is building a great Pyramid as the tomb of his final resting place. In the opening scene of the musical a group of high Priests are singing a worship to the morning statue of Re (raw) the God within the disk of the sun. When the Priests leave Hopthoes, a tomb painter, and Dhoestop, an ex Priest of Pharaoh and now a tomb robber, enter the space where they copy a small map from the side of the statue. The map shows the way into the treasure room. On their return to Dhoestop' s house the Pharaoh's wife passes them in parade and Hopthoes is instantly stricken by her beauty. Hopthoes is barley able to return to his job as tomb painter in Pharaoh's tomb where Pharaoh and his wife are admiring the work. The Queen on seeing Hopthoes for the first time has his same reaction to her and she seems hopelessly lost in her desire for him as she orders her servant to fetch the tomb painter to her bedroom. Dhoestop and Hopthoes change their plan now and decide instead of robbing the tomb they will instead replace Pharaoh, who looks very much like the tomb painter. Dhoestop has to convince Hopthoes that there are other Gods, real God's, other than Pharaoh and Dhoestop promises to prove this before they act. The Queen seduces Hopthoes as her husband is seducing another fair maid about to be added to Pharaoh's harem. Hopthoes begins to train with Dhoestop to be Pharaoh as Pharaoh has decided to sacrifice his Queen to the Nile in order to bring rain and stop the famine in Egypt. Hopthoes is tested as Pharaoh by seducing the Queen who had seduced him earlier. After her seduction she runs into the real Pharaoh who commands her to prepare for her sacrifice. The Queen joins the plot along with her servant Kirya and Dhoestop reveals evidence to Hopthoes that other God's had come before them. The Pharaoh is drawn into a trap he cannot escape and therefore trades his power to Dhoestop and then becomes the tomb painter, married to the servant of the Queen. Dhoestop and Hopthoes perform a ceremony on a balcony over looking the people and at the precise moment a rain storm begins which shows the power of Re as truly a God man on Earth.
