About Beth Martin Brown

Beth Martin Brown is an award-winning writer and a graduate of USC's Master of Professional Writing Program.  Her one-act play The Lonely Bull was the winner of the USC Sixth Annual One-Act Play Festival.  This play also received an Honorable Mention at the Dubuque Fine Art Players.  While at USC she studied with Jerome Lawrence (Inherit the Wind).  Under his auspices, she wrote and staged Hannah's Son, which garnered ardent praise.  Her short play BRAVE has been a semifinalist at the Actor's Theatre of Louisville's Ten-Minute Play competition and received an Honorable Mention at the University of Alaska Native Plays contest.  West Coast Ensemble saw the production and staged reading of Myrna's Mission and Monroe�SHOCKS! (full-length American farce) respectively. Monroe�SHOCKS! also received an Honorable Mention in the McLaren Memorial Comedy Playwriting Competition at the Midland, Texas Community Theatre.  The Seven Ages of Fear, another short play, was successfully produced at First Stage, Playwright's Express. 

She is the librettist for the children's musical The Little Witch of Wichita. (www.stageworthy.com) It won the Los Angeles Premiere Play Day Award out of 300 entries and has had eight successful productions around the country with sold out performances at the Geffen Theatre in Westwood, CA. 

Her full-length play Strong Sistahs  is a quarter finalist in The Writer's Network competition. Presently, she teaches English and writing at Los Angeles Valley College. She is also a member of The Dramatists Guild, ALAP, and ATAS.
