Cakewalk
by Nalsey Tinberg
Synopsis: A two-hander for Barrie (born "Bersahla") and her Holocaust refugee mother, Sprintzer. Both "Christmas babies" (Barrie's actual birthday and the date marking Sprintze's miraculous recovery from typhus in Russia) we join them for ten years of marking these events. A mother who feels that "God has saved her" from the fates of the other Jews, her faith is sorely tested when her daughter faces a life threatening illness. These two take this ten year journey together with great humor, great dignity, and the proper amount of disrepect.
Notes: This play needs lots of cake!
