Teen Mogul
by Lucy Wang
Synopsis: When Tracy's mother abandons the family without warning, without a note, without any contact information, Tracy's family naturally falls into a deep depression. Tracy's father, Henry, can't cope, can't face work. Tracy and her brother Alex can't face school. The whole house grows dark as a Magritte painting. It takes an English teacher, Miss Nutter, and impending home foreclosure to pull Tracy out of the black hole and stir her into action. Tracy refuses to die homeless and motherless, and with support from Miss Nutter has always insisted she is gifted, her friend Kevin who comes from privilege, Tracy leaps for the brass ring. If Steve Jobs called the President of Hewlett-Packward, why can't Tracy call her favorite mogul, Christopher Brennan? Always aim for the top and practice what you preach. Tracy impresses mogul Christopher Brennan with her appetite and her “homework,†her many product ideas. To execute her plan, Tracy must enlist the support of Marina, someone who one hated her guts, a former Homecoming Queen. Tracy and Marina play a pivotal role in bucking the trend in their home state of Ohio, bringing style to geeks everywhere, and increasing shareholder value. All goes well until success breeds complications. Major complications in the form of corporate raider and Christopher's archrival, Duke Manning. Duke wants Tracy, and the secrets to her success. He will stop at nothing. Neither will Rita Storey, a prickly pear reporter known for scooping scandals. TEEN MOGUL is a new play inspired by my real life experience.
