The Magic Hour
by Jonathan Dorf
Runtime: 30 - 35 mins
Cast: 4 females, 4 males
Synopsis: It's 4 A.M. Most of their world may be asleep, but for a group of teens, it's time to wrestle with the changes in their lives. Meet the DJ of the internet's loneliest radio show, best friends who've moved apart and best friends who've grown apart, a teen Romeo and Juliet who can't find that perfect balcony scene, a serial letter writer who hasn't sent a single one and many others. Through scenes and monologues, they'll discover that there is indeed somebody out there and that the Monster Under the Bed is real, but will they be ready for what comes next?
Notes: Gender-flexible ensemble cast of 6-30+. Minimum 3 males, 3 females (though probably at least 8 actors total would be best). Suggested set. Written specifically for teen actors, and suitable for middle school and up. The Magic Hour can stand alone or play as the second half of a double bill with 4 A.M. The play is in the process of being published, so perusal scripts are still available directly from the author at this time.
