The Tram
by Mary Crescenzo
Runtime: 25 - 35 mins
Cast: 2 females
Synopsis: In the shadow of the asylum's ruins of historic Roosevelt Island, fears and dreams are transformed with the help of a bag of bittersweet chocolates. Travel along the unlikely meeting of two Italian-American women over the East River in New York City's famous big red tin can and along this historic island when a morsel of life changes everything.
Notes: The Tram premiered at the Italian-American Museum of New York. Inspired by family stories told to New York native playwright Mary Crescenzo over the years about her immigrant great-grandmother whom she had never met, this playwright's duel fascination with this ancestor and the history of Roosevelt Island led to the creation of this one act play about strangers, journeys and Baci chocolates.
