About Michael Halperin
Without informing me, a high school English teacher submitted a short story written as an assignment to a national magazine. The magazine bought it and I received a check. For a 15-year-old, that seemed like magic...and I was hooked. I kept writing and getting rejections. In my last year of college, I wrote a comedy screenplay about one of my teachers. Again, unknown to me, my publicist brother brought it to his studio. It was optioned...never made, but I cashed the sizable check. I spent 20 years writing TV, working on staff without a break. It was enough. Plays, novels, non-fiction drew me into new directions...although I kept a foot in media creating two animated TV series. writing a best-selling video game for which I won a 'Cybie' from the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences.
